Peromyscus martinii was named by Hibbard (1937). It is not extant. Its type locality is Edson, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in Kansas.
It was recombined as Onychomys martini by Hoffmeister (1945), Hibbard (1950) and Carleton and Eshelman (1979).
