Propoteriocrinus was named by Schmidt (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: D Emsi-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Propoteriocrinus scopae.
It was assigned to Poteriocrinitidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978); to Rutkowskicrinidae by McIntosh (2001); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
