Taxonomy
Ulrichospira kanekoi was named by Kase and Nishida (1986). It is not extant. Its type locality is Hikoroichi District Southern Kitakami Massif, which is in an Eifelian marine horizon in the Nakazato Formation of Japan.

It was recombined as Murchisonia kanekoi by Wagner (2023).
