Prospalax petteri

Taxonomy
Prospalax petteri was named by Bachmayer and Wilson (1970). It is not extant. Its type specimen is NHMW 1970/1394 mandible dext. with m1-m3, a mandible. Its type locality is Kohfidisch, which is in a MN 11 terrestrial horizon in Austria.

F. Bachmayer and R. W. Wilson 1970Approximate size of Prospalax priscus, but lower jaw less robust; larger, and with more specialized jaw than in Anomalomys gaudryi. m1 more elongate than in Pliospalax. Development of sigmoid pattern in cheekteeth intermediate between A. gaillardi and P. priscus.
