Taxonomy
Thenaropus heterodactylus was named by King (1845). It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is quarry southeast of Greensburg, which is in a Pennsylvanian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in Pennsylvania.
It was recombined as Limnopus heterodactylus by Haubold (1971).
