Galericulus was named by Seeley (1861) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Galericulus altus.

It was assigned to Calyptraeidae by Wenz (1938); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gastropoda by Saul and Squires (2008).
