Stratigraphy
Formation:Ware
Regional section:Cocinetas Regional bed:440 m
Regional order:bottom to top
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Ware Formation, which unconformably overlies the Castilletes Formation (early-middle Miocene). This area and nearby collections have been previously mapped as Castilletes Formaton (Miocene). AGE: late Pliocene-early Pleistocene, on the basis of macrofaunal composition; direct age established by extrapolation of Sr-isotope dating by enterer. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Probably from lower in the Ware Fm that other marine horizons; estimated to be 440 m in regional section.
