Basis of coordinate:based on nearby landmark
Geographic resolution:outcrop
Time
Period:Quaternary Epoch:Pleistocene
Stage:Calabrian 10 m.y. bin:Cenozoic 6
Key time interval:Calabrian
Age range of interval:1.80000 - 0.77400 m.y. ago
Stratigraphy
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: The species Hyalinea baltica is present, whereas Globorotalia truncatulinoides is absent, indicating a Early Calabrian age.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:shelly/skeletal poorly lithified sandstone
Lithology description: Siliciclastic-carbonate sands, of which the pelitic content increases upward. Poorly lithified based on sampling methods and fossil preservation.
Environment:offshore
Geology comments: The relative abundance of planktonic foraminifers (as compared to benthic taxa) is 36%. According to Wright (1978) this figure points to a circalittoral environment (some 200 m in depth).
