Stratigraphy
Formation:Whittaker
Stratigraphic resolution:member
Stratigraphy comments: Uppermost beds (169-197 m of section), Late Wenlock and/or early Ludlow
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: dolomite
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: Lenz (1989) (PBDB ref. 6992): "very fossiliferous, thick, poorly bedded dolostones...all brachiopods silicified..."
Environment:deep subtidal shelf Tectonic setting:passive margin
Geology comments: "The deeper end of BA 3 seems reasonable, particularly in view of the presence of Epitomyonia. The rubbly nature of the rock suggests moderate agitation with some shell destruction and with some sorting and winnowing...Community is highest in a continuous sequence comprising, from oldest to youngest, Reveroides-Harpidium, Glassia-Harpidium, and [this Comm.]...sequence interpreted as progressive deepening." Lenz (1989--PBDB ref. 6992 interprets sequence as carbonate platform margin.

Modes of preservation:replaced with silica
Collection methods and comments
Reason for describing collection:paleoecologic analysis
Collection method comments: Relative abundances (abundant, common, few, rare, very rare) given in table 46.1. Three collections at 169 m, 184 m, and 197 m are combined.
