Stratigraphy comments: Age assignment changed from Norian to Rhaetian by W. Kiessling. Following the re-definition of the Rhaetian stage by Dagys and Dagys (1994, Global correlation of the terminal Triassic: Memoires de Geologie (Lausanne), v. 22, p. 25-34) the Kossen Formation is now considered to be entirely Rhaetian in age (McRoberts pers. comm., Kiessling et al. 2007).
