Lithology description: The formation is composed of a variable development of tuffaceous shale, soft sandstones and some conglomerates and at most places the stratification is horizontal or nearly so.

Geology comments: The molluscan fossils would seem to indicate a lagoonal to fully marine environment of deposition, the fossiliferous beds of irregular or patchy occurrence.
