Stratigraphy
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Occurs in proximity to the Pleistocene-Pliocene Falca Sands (Richards 1962) that is 70 m thick. LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: No lithostratigraphic units named in text. AGE: Pleistocene (Richards 1943, 1962) based on the high proportion of Recent species (89%). Late Pleistocene (Sangamon) age has been suggested by Richards (1938) for a similar fauna from Florida and Cozumel Island, Mexico (Richards, 1935, 1937). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: At no place observed do Pleistocene deposits occur higher than 12-15 ft above sea level.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: unlithified lime mudstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Unconsolidated limy clay. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified as stated to be unconsolidated and based on figured specimens.
Environment:coastal indet.
Glacial or sequence phase:transgressive
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Definately shallow water, possibly littoral zone. SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY: Probably deposited during interglacial, hence transgressive

Collection method comments: COLLECTORS: Collected by H.G. Richards (1939). REPOSITORIES: Collections held in the Academy of Natural Sciences (ANSP) and the Museo de Ciencias Naturales in Caracas, Venezuela.
Taxonomic list comments:COVERAGE: Exhaustive for gastropoda and bivalvia. NOMENCLATURE: An authoratative publication, although somewhat antiquated. However, all occurrences include species-resolution assignments.
