Age range of interval:15.98000 - 11.63000 m.y. ago
Stratigraphy
Formation:Gellibrand
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Gellibrand Fm, which is regionally overlain by the Rutledge Creek Member of the Port Campbell Limestone. Stratigraphy is discussed by Mallet (1977). AGE: The age of the assemblage is late Middle Miocene and is Bairnsdalian. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From limited stratigraphic thickness exposed on lake shore.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:shelly/skeletal,gray,yellow,blue unlithified calcareous siltstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Yellow to blue-grey calcareous silt, moderately rich in molluscs, bryozoans and corals. LITHIFICATION: Assumed unlithified on the basis of age and figured specimens (Beu and Darragh 2001).
Environment:marine indet.
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Environment not reported in text, siliciclastic.
