Basis of coordinate:stated in text
Geographic resolution:outcrop
Time
Period:Neogene Epoch:Miocene
10 m.y. bin:Cenozoic 5

Age range of interval:23.03000 - 15.98000 m.y. ago
Stratigraphy
Formation:Guadal
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Guadal Fm, which is overlain by the Galera Fm (Early-Middle Miocene). AGE: Late Oligocene-Early Miocene in text. Composition of the fauna reveals close similarity with those of the Patagoniano, and in particular the Monte Leon Fm. An Early Miocene age could be moe precise on the basis of sequence stratigraphic events. Early Miocene is assigned here. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From upper part of the Guadal Formation.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:gray lithified sandstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Dark gray sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of figured specimens.
Environment:offshore
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Siliciclastic, and not particularly shallow (i.e. lower inner-middle shelf) based on faunal compisition.
