Stratigraphy
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: There is no(?) lithostratigraphic framework for the Ordovician limestones on Lambay Island thus far. At least all these rocks are said to range from Llanvirn to Ashgill in age (Rayner, 1967, The stratigraphy of the British Isles) or to include the Amorphognathus superbus and A. ordovicius conodont biozones (Harper & Parkes, 2000, Geol. Soc. Spec. Rep. 24), the latter implying an Upper Katian to Hirnantian age (see "Geological Time Scales" 2004, 2008, Gradstein et al., Ogg et al., respectively).
