Corbula-Solecurtus-Tellina comm. - Qumugen Fm (Upper Mbr) (Eocene of China)

Where: Xinjiang, China (41.0° N, 84.0° E: paleocoordinates 39.3° N, 76.4° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Upper Member (Qimugen Formation), Early/Lower Eocene (55.8 - 48.6 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the upper member of the Qimugen Fm, which overlies the lower member of the Qimugen Fm (Late Paleocene) and is overlain by the Kalatar Fm (lower Middle Eocene). AGE: Early Eocene. Justification not stated, but presumably through macrofossil and microfossil biostratigraphy. Pollen present. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From bed within the lower part of the upper member of the formation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: peritidal; poorly lithified, brown, red, sandy mudstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Supra-intertidal, brackish water, delta facies, during regressive period.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Brown-red sandy mudstone. LITHIFICATION: Not stated, presumably poorly lithified on the basis of facies.

Size class: macrofossils

Reposited in the NIGPAS

Collection methods: bulk,

• COLLECTOR: Not stated, but presumably X. Lan and J. M. Wei (1980's). REPOSITORY: Probably Nanjing Inst. of Geol. and Pal., Academia Sinica.
