Cambrian Rocks, Native Tier Track (Cambrian of Australia)

Where: Tasmania, Australia (41.8° S, 146.3° E: paleocoordinates 10.6° N, 156.2° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Boomerangian (500.5 - 499.0 Ma)

• North Australia: Lejopyge laevigata Zone (possibly L. laevigata II); South China: L. laevigata and particularly Proagnostus bulbus Zone

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, yellow, cherty/siliceous siltstone and lithified sandstone

• fossils come from within a mixed succession of felsic volcanics and sedimentary rocks; poor outcrop does not allow a meaningful facies analysis of the succession
• buff or fawn-coloured siltstone which occurs within a conglomerate-sandstone-siltstone succession

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: mold/impression

Collection methods: bulk,

• Collection housed in School of Earth Sciences, University of Tasmania (UTGD); latex and silicone rubber casts were prepared proir to photography; many of the fossils were originally collected by JBJ in 1967-70 as apart of a doctoral study
