Southwest of Oron phosphate plant (level 2) (Cretaceous of Israel)

Where: Israel (30.8° N, 34.9° E: paleocoordinates 13.8° N, 30.2° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Bostrychoceras polyplocum ammonoid zone, Mishash Formation, Late/Upper Campanian (83.5 - 70.6 Ma)

• Phosphate bed (No. 0) at the base of the Phosphate Member of the Mishash Formation, overlying the Chert Member. Its Late Campanian age is indicated in other regions where the last Hoplitoplacenticeras marroti (Coquand) occurs just below this phosphate bed so that this level is of the same age as the lower Bostrychoceras polyplocum Zone of Europe

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; phosphorite

Size class: macrofossils

Collection methods: bulk, surface (in situ), sieve
