Also known as Laño quarry; Trevino; Condado de Treviño
Where: Burgos, Spain (42.7° N, 2.6° W: paleocoordinates 35.0° N, 2.3° W)
• coordinate estimated from map
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Torme Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)
• These fossiliferous beds are located in the higher part of the working wall of the quarry, which makes difficult direct collecting. This impediment is overcome by the existence of large blocks of rock fallen from identifiable beds. Isolated teeth from different layers may also be obtained sparsely distributed along the quarry by hand or pick collecting on rubbles and large weathered blocks. In addition, teeth are washed out from the rocks and redeposited in the talus of quarry walls. Collected teeth come from two levels. According to the selachian association, a Late – but not Latest – Maastrichtian age is given for the Albaina beds. The succession is unnamed but considered equivalent to the Torme Formation cropping out in the Villarcayo area, Burgos Province, North-Castilian Platform.
