Stratigraphy comments: Ascribed to the Pliocene the outcropping in this area ("sabbie stratificate con argille e ciottoli, di ambiente litorale o salmastro"). The mollusk content of these sandy sediments shows important analogies with deposits from northern Italy ascribed the Tabianian (lower Pliocene). Zanclean to lower Piacenzian according to Pedriali & Robba, 2009.
