Can I become a PBDB contributor?

If you're a professional researcher: yes, you can enter data under your own authority.

If you're a student: yes, you can enter data, but you need an authorizer. This is typically your advisor, who would need to ask for an account as well. If your advisor doesn't want to, though, consider contacting one of our members who specializes in your taxon of interest to serve as an authorizer instead.

How to get started

Sign up for a guest account on the login page and follow the instructions provided to become an Authorizer, Enterer or Student. You may also use the Guest account but will only be allowed to search and download from the database.

For help on how to enter data, refer to our video tutorials. More information about data sources is also available in the FAQ.

Data issues

Data quality and coverage is always a concern in community-sourced projects, and the PBDB is no exception. If you've noticed an issue with the accuracy of the data, please tell the ExCom.

Bug reporting

Our bug tracking is done via Github (requires a free account). If you find any problems in the website or the API, please let us know via the main bug tracking page or send an email to the site administrator.
