Taxonomy
Takakkawia was named by Walcott (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 766]. It is not extant. Its type is Takakkawia lineata. It is the type genus of Takakkawiidae.
It was assigned to Haplosclerida by Sepkoski (2002); to Takakkawiidae by Finks et al. (2004) and Rigby and Collins (2004); and to Demospongia by Bambach et al. (2007).
