Enantiornis was named by Walker (1981). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Enantiornithidae by Carroll (1988); to Avisauridae by Kurochkin (2000); to Enantiornithes by Walker (1981), Chiappe and Calvo (1994) and Padian (2004); and to Euenantiornithes by Chiappe (2002) and Walker and Dyke (2009).
