Ottoceros was named by Miller and Downs (1974). It is not extant. Its type is Ottoceros peacevalleyensis.
It was assigned to Antilocapridae by Miller and Downs (1974) and Carroll (1988); and to Antilocaprinae by Janis and Manning (1998).
