• Bjerreskov says this zone is equivalent to crenulatus Zone in Britain.

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, gray shale and lithified, gray, green, argillaceous, silty shale

• "[in lower part] shales are grey....Towards the middle of the zone the shales become grey-green, argillaceous to silty, and non-fossiliferous. Only a few bands of dark shales with sparse graptolites occur..."
