STRI Loc. 290806 - Yotohoro [upper Jimol Fm] (Miocene of Colombia)

Also known as AH140107

Where: La Guajira, Colombia (12.0° N, 71.3° W: paleocoordinates 11.2° N, 68.0° W)

• coordinate based on unpublished field data

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: upper Jimol Member (Jimol Formation), Burdigalian (20.4 - 16.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Jimol Formation, which conformably underlies the Castilletes Formation (early Miocene). AGE: Burdigalian, on the basis of macrofaunal composition; direct age established by extrapolation of Sr-isotope dating by enterer. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From faulted area, but likely in lower part of the Castilletes Fm; from at estimated 95 m below Jimol/Castilletes contact.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; unlithified siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine (10-50 m), siliciclastic.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Unconsolidated silty matrix. LITHIFICATION: Unlithified, as determined in the field and based on museum-reposited specimens.

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Preservation: original aragonite
