Where: New York (42.8° N, 74.8° W: paleocoordinates 34.9° S, 33.8° W)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Ravena Member (Coeymans Formation), Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)

• Gedinnian

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal ramp; sandy, calcareous mudstone and sandy, calcareous siltstone

• "Geographic and stratigraphic relations with associated communities indicate a BA 3 assignment....normal current and oxygen level within photic zone."

•2003:05:03 SEP environmental call based on given description; again, tihs is a truly mixed interval in the Coeymans. could go into either carbonate or clastic classification scheme

• General description of community: "Commonly occurs as largely disarticulated shells, except for those taxa which disarticulate with difficulty, in a sandy mudstone-siltstone matrix, which may or may not be very calcareous and may not be a limestone. The bed thicknesses are in the few centimeters range. Crossbeds, prominent ripple marks, thin layering and laminations are absent."

Reposited in the USNM
