Adnet Schnoll Quarry 5b (Jurassic to of Austria)

Also known as Quarry XXXI (5b)

Where: Austria (47.0° N, 13.0° E)

• Paleocoordinates: 28.9° N, 30.1° E (Wright 2013)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Angulaticeras Marmoreum zone, Guggen Member (Schnoll Formation), Middle Hettangian to Middle Hettangian (201.4 - 199.5 Ma)

• The bed (Enzesfeld facies) is capped by the Marmorea Crust (Brandschicht) and is present in uppermost part of the Schnoll Formation

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal ramp; lithified, condensed, ferruginous, phosphatic, shelly/skeletal packstone

• The sediment starvation may have been related to current activity combined with strongly reduced input of carbonate mud due to the Middle Hettangian widespread drowning.
• Thin bed capped by Fe/Mn crust. Microfacies: echinoderm-foram biomicrite (wacke- to packstone) with gastropods.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: original calcite

Collection methods: bulk, mechanical,
