Where: New Zealand (40.9° S, 177.0° E)
• Paleocoordinates: 84.4° S, 146.5° W (Wright 2013)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• local area-level geographic resolution
When: Maringi Formation (Mangapurupuru Group), Motuan (103.3 - 99.5 Ma)
• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Maringi Fm, which unconformably overlies Torlesse greywacke, and is overlain by the Springhill Fm (Cenomanian). AGE: Motuan (=Albian), and probably extending down to the Urutawan, on the basis of macrofossil biostratigraphy. Here placed in Motuan = Albian. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Composite for entire formation.
• formation-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, gray siltstone
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: cast, mold/impression
Reposited in the IGNS
Collection methods: surface (in situ),
• COLLECTOR: Multiple collectors. REPOSITORY: GSNZ (now GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand).
