Filon Douze Tafilalt bed OJ-I (Devonian of Morocco)

Also known as Jovellania limestone succession. - not to confuse with "Jovellania limestone" of Bultynck and Walliser (2000)

When: Pedavis pesavis conodont zone, Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)

• Approximately 40 m above Scyphocrinites limestone. The bed represents the pesavis Bioevent.

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal shelf; lithified, black, silty, carbonaceous floatstone

• The bed is characterized by the occurrence of scour and fill structures c. 0.15 m thick with a diameter of <0.5 m. These structures contain a floatstone with masses of poorly orientated orthocones.

Preservation: recrystallized, original aragonite, replaced with calcite
