• coordinate estimated from map
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Cynognathus subzone B or C other zone, Omingonde Formation (Karoo Group), Anisian to Anisian (247.2 - 237.0 Ma)
• Referred to as the "Lower Etjo Beds" by Keyser (1973) but now called the Omingonde Formation. "Based on the co-occurrence of Kannemeyeria and Erythrosuchus in subzone B of the Cynognathus Assemblage Zone, the Omingonde Formation may be broadly assigned an Anisian age." (Damiani et al. 2007. Palaeontology 50: 1531-1546)
•
•Abdala & Smith (2009) suggest the possibility of two different faunas in the upper Omingonde Formation; an older one corresponding to Cynognathus Subzone B and the upper possibly to Cynognathus Subzone C. On the basis of the presence of Chiniquodon in the upper fauna, Abdala & Smith (2009) tentatively suggested that the Omingonde could extend into the early Ladinian. However, it is not clear what level in the formation this Trirachodon collection came from and so a general Anisian-early Ladinian age is assigned
