Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: tuff
Lithology description: Estancia La Costa. The outlying stratigraphic column in the area near Estancia La Costa was previously described (Tauber, 1996), when 5 fossiliferous levels were defined (NF 1, 2, 2.1, 3 and 4). These levels are found in a succession of clays and tuffs interspersed and exposed in the intra-tidal zone and at the base of the cliff. The first stratigraphic level of this succession is a solid gray-green clay with small sub-spherical and irregular calcareous concretions, and frequent pedotubules of reduced caliber, which forms the fossiliferous level 1. From this layer comes one of the materials assigned to Necrolestes patagonensis.
