• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Blenheim Formation, Wuchiapingian (259.9 - 254.2 Ma)
• Streptorhynchus pelicanensis bed, according to Campbell (1960, 1965). The pelicanensis fauna occurs near the top of the Blenheim Formation, and is likely equivalent to the Pseudostrophalosia ingelarensis zone (or possibly also P. clarkei zone) of Briggs (1998). These zones are correlated with the upper part of APP4.3 palynomorph zone or lower part of APP5 (Briggs, 1998). The APP4.3 zone was constrained as mid-Wuchiapingian age and APP5 as mid-Wuchiapingian through Changhsingian age by U-Pb dating in Laurie et al. (2016). However, overlying units in the Fort Cooper Coal Measures yield latest Wuchiapingian U-Pb ages (Phillips et al., 2018), constraining the upper Blenheim Fm to Wuchiapingian.
