Levyy Titan Creek, Bed 59, Okhotsk Massif (Triassic of Russian Federation)

Where: Russian Federation (61.1° N, 147.2° E: paleocoordinates 77.9° N, 22.2° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Dienerian (250.5 - 251.2 Ma)

• Upper part of member. 340 m thick overall.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, gray siltstone and lithified, fine-grained, silty sandstone

• Alternating steel blue to gray hard siltstones and gray fine-grained silty sandstones (beds from a few centimeters to 10–30 cm) with thin (1–2 mm) lamination visible only at the weathered surface as alternating dark and lighter bands and with coarser alternation (0.3–1.0 cm) of gray siltstones, ferruginate at the weathering surface, and black shales. Hard siltstones and sandstones with stratal fracture form packets 1–2 m thick; packets of alternating siltstones and shales seem to be thinner (0.5 m ?).

Size class: macrofossils
