When: Trout Valley Formation, Emsian to Emsian (407.6 - 387.7 Ma)

• overlies the Traveler Rhyolite which was dated by Bottino et al (1966) as 360+/-10 Ma. Formation is about 1500 feet thick.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified, black, gray siltstone and lithified, black, gray sandstone

• A heterogeneous assemblage of light-blue-gray to black shale, siltstone, sandstone and conglomerate.... The formation is remarkably undeformed; the average dip of the beds is 15 degrees.
