Where: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada (49.9° N, 57.8° W: paleocoordinates 38.1° S, 68.5° W)
• coordinate based on political unit
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Downes Point Member (Shallow Bay Formation), Arcadian (509.0 - 498.4 Ma)
• Approximately 100m thick. Many of the boulder clasts in the conglomerate appear to have been reworked from older sediments. A number of Middle Cambrina taxa were recovered from clasts in beds believed to be Sunwaptan in age. Note: Represents beds 1-5 from James and Stevens (1986), however fossils found only in beds 3-5. AGE: Arcadian; refined by A. Hendy (6/2009) on the basis of biostratigraphic data.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: slope; lithified conglomerate and lithified lime mudstone
Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils
Collection methods: chemical, mechanical,
