• The true Mengyejing Formation is an early Late Cretaceous stratum. However, the "Mengyejing Formation" near Shangyong Village may belong to an undefined stratum. An early Eocene age (Ypresian) is more convincing on the basis of the study of the conchostracan Paraleptestheria menglaensis (Chen and Shen, 1980; Shen et al., 2006).
