Where: Queensland, Australia (24.7° S, 150.1° E: paleocoordinates 59.8° S, 144.5° E)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Echinalosia ovalis brachiopod zone, Flat Top Formation, Wuchiapingian (259.9 - 254.2 Ma)
• Assigned the Echinalosia ovalis zone of Briggs (1998) and the middle part of palynomorph zone APP5. Laurie et al. (2016) calibrated the APP5 zone to mid-Wuchiapingian through Changhsingian. Phillips et al. (2018) marked the Platypus Tuff bed (dated as 256.01 Ma in Metcalf et al., 2015) within the Flat Top Formation but suggested that the top of the formation was 255.13 Ma based on correlation with a tuff bed at the top of the Colinlea Sandstone equivalent. These constraints suggest a Wuchiapingian age for the Flat Top Formation.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: marine; lithified siliciclastic sediments
Size class: macrofossils
Preservation: replaced with limonite
