• Upper Puente shale of the Mohnian horizon, Upper Miocene. The Mohnian is the older of two Upper Miocene horizons in California terminology, probably not older than 14 Ma, but also not extending to the top of the Miocene. The upper part of the Puente shale is probably in the upper part of the Mohnian.
