Dzun Shakhai [HMNS-GIN] (Cretaceous of Mongolia)

Where: Dornogov, Mongolia (45.1° N, 111.1° E: paleocoordinates 47.1° N, 111.5° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Early/Lower Cretaceous (145.0 - 100.5 Ma)

• Discovery of fragmentary bones of psittacosaur made it possible to assign the geological age of the beds to Early Cretaceous.

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; fine-grained, white sandstone

• The section of the Cretaceous consist of red mudstone layers in lower part, alternation of sandstone and mudstone layers in middle, and alternation of red mudstone and white-gray sandstone layers in upper.
