• Neumark in the upper west coal from the funnel No. VIII and thus approximately contemporaneous with the charnel grounds of mine Cecilie

•The coallayer is at the border of Cusien to Lutetian

•Franzen & Haubold 1986: lower Middle Eocene

Environment/lithology: mire or swamp; lignite and shale

• Geiseltal comes from a swampy environment. Subsidence caused by dissolution of underlying salts and anhydrite ("volcanic basin" is the closest tectonic setting category).
