Where: Huila, Colombia (3.3° N, 75.2° W: paleocoordinates 2.7° N, 72.6° W)

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; claystone and conglomeratic sandstone

• Aproximately 25 feet of gray clays overlying concretionary sandstones which rest on the conglomerates so conspicuously exposed in the middle of the Villaviaja - Cerro Gordo section. This unit varies somewhat and in places grades laterally into sandstone, but is predominantely clay. Fossils recorded from the Monkey locality were found in the clay.
