Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithified, argillaceous shale and lithified, calcareous dolomite

• Thin carbonate beds, mainly dolomites interca- lated with shales, conformably overlie the clastics of the Alam El Bueib Formation, and underlie the clastics of the Dahab or Kharita Formations. The age of the Alamein Formation is Aptian
