Radensko polje, unit - bedded micritic (mudstone) limestones (Jurassic to of Slovenia)

Where: Slovenia (45.9° N, 14.7° E: paleocoordinates 30.7° N, 18.3° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Hettangian to Hettangian (201.3 - 190.8 Ma)

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; limestone

• The section prevails variously grey, bedded and occasionally banded micritic limestones containing in spots fragments of benthic foraminifers and molluscs (wackestone). Bedded micritic limestones contain sporadic interbeds of oosparitic (ooid grainstones), intraoosparitic, bioosparitic, biosparitic,

•biomiciritic and oncomicritic limestones, that alternate rhythmically. In

•the thick-bedded oosparitic limestones are to be found intraclasts (intraclastic grainstones) and bioclasts (bioclastic grainstones). Intraclasts are subangular to poorly rounded and up to one centimeter in size. They belong to micritic, biosparitic, intrasparitic and laminated limestones. Bioclasts are represented by more or less rounded and micritized fragments of algae, molluscs and foraminifers.

• Bedded micritic (mudstone) limestones

Size classes: mesofossils, microfossils
