Simpson Quarry (Paleocene of the United States)

Where: Wheatland County, Montana (46.2° N, 109.9° W: paleocoordinates 53.1° N, 85.7° W)

• coordinate based on political unit

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Bear Formation, Puercan (66.0 - 63.3 Ma)

• "380 ft (115.8 m) above the top of the underlying Hell Creek Formation and 150 ft (45.7 m) below the contact with the overlying Lebo Formation"; this matches well with the estimate of "500-600 feet" for the Bear given by Simpson 1937a; I therefore have added 530 feet to all of Simpson's levels to extend his section to include the Bear

•said by Buckley 1993 to be somewhere within chron C29n

Environment/lithology: terrestrial
