• 12.2 m above the Fencepost limestone bed, 1 m below marker unit 7 (Hattin 1962), middle of the Fairport Chalk Member, Carlile Shale (Fig. 2). This stratigraphic interval corresponds to the middle of the Collignoniceras woollgari ammonite zone (Hattin 1962, 1975; Kauffman et al. 1993).

• On April 10, 2010, following the 142nd meeting of the Kansas Academy of Science, an articulated series of seven mosasaur caudal vertebrae (FHSM VP-17564) was discovered within a small exposure of Fairport Chalk, Carlile Shale in northeastern Ellis County, Kansas.
