Environment/lithology: sand shoal; ooidal limestone

• concentric oolites with well develped radial and concentric structures set in a matric of spar or micrite, grading in places to an organo-detrital limestone
• Brown weathering bioclastic calcarenite grading upwards into an oolitic limestone. Thin sections show' much fossil debris, mostly pelmatozoan plates, set in a matrix which is partly clear calcite, partly brownish\vnish, finely divided cHl'b:mate. Color Ull a \Yeathel'ed surface is an olive gray (5Y 6/1) mottled ,,,ith light-brown (5Y 6/4), which on a fresh surface becomes a light-brown (GYR 4/4 to 5YR 5/6). One insoluble residue, 1.3%; residue mostly a rusty brown, spongy material, possibly limonite, with some silicified fossil debris. Dolomite content 1(;'\'1', less than 1%.
