Where: Jambi, Indonesia (2.2° S, 102.2° E: paleocoordinates 2.2° S, 102.2° E)
• coordinate estimated from map
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Mengkarang Formation, Asselian (298.9 - 295.5 Ma)
• "All above mentioned lines of evidence suggest that the Teluk Gedang fusuline fauna is referable to the Sakmarian rather than to the Asselian in the traditional chronostratigraphic scale of the Tethyan Permian, although the latter age is also potentially likely based on the overall generic composition." Radiometric dating of tuff beds from the base and the top of the formation indicates an average duration of 630,000 years, from 296.77 ± 0.04 to 296.14 ± 0.09 Ma (Van Waveren et al., 2017).
