Sample II8P14L4-1, Qingquan, Yumen City (Cretaceous of China)

Where: Gansu, China (40.0° N, 97.8° E: paleocoordinates 39.4° N, 98.4° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Chijinbao Formation, Aptian (125.0 - 113.0 Ma)

• The combined biostratigraphic and numerical age data suggest that the Changma Basin began accumulating sediment no older than Hauterivian (based on pollen records), is older than the Coniacian (based on the crosscutting dykes), but is likely Barremian to Aptian based on the similarities to the Jehol biota (Suarez et al., 2013)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; lithified, brown, yellow, silty mudstone

• The formation is 591 m in thickness and composed of yellow – brown coarse clastic sediment interbedded with some siltstone and mudstone.

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Preservation: mold/impression

Collection methods: Repository: Tianjin Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources
