• Formation is Late Aptian, based on radiometric constraints of 120.3 Ma near the base, 115.5 Ma in the middle part, and 112.4 Ma in the base of the overlying Zhonggou Formation (Zheng et al., 2021).

Environment/lithology: lacustrine; lithified, brown, yellow, silty mudstone

• The formation is 591 m in thickness and composed of yellow – brown coarse clastic sediment interbedded with some siltstone and mudstone.
